Assistant Shipping Procurement (ENG)

International Food Connectors operates in the rapidly growing and dynamic world of international agri-food trade. We collaborate with suppliers and customers worldwide and are committed to the efficient, reliable delivery of high-quality food products.

In this role, you will play a key role in managing our global ocean freight operations. You will be responsible for requesting, comparing, and maintaining rates with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and road hauliers. This information is essential for our Trade department colleagues to successfully close deals. You know that calling is often the fastest way to do business and you don’t hesitate to pick up the phone. You proactively monitor the market, identify trends, and adjust rates accordingly. You’ll maintain daily contact with both internal and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities at a glance:

• Requesting, comparing, and managing ocean freight rates with freight forwarders and shipping lines;

• Requesting rates for container road transport from road hauliers;

• Regularly advising traders on current freight information;

• Proactively monitoring market dynamics (e.g., fuel price fluctuations, seasonal influences);

• Verifying invoices;

• Contributing to the optimization of logistics processes and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.

What can you expect?

• A salary between € 2.600,- and € 3.900,- depending on your profile, based on a full-time contract (part-time is possible upon consultation);

• Eligibility for an annual performance bonus of up to 15% of your annual salary;

Who are you?

• You have experience in maritime logistics (this is a plus);

• You are proficient in Excel;

• You have excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English (English is our working language);

• Knowledge of a third language is a plus;

• You are commercially minded and solution oriented challenges energize you;

• You are customer focused and show strong perseverance;

• You have a hands-on mentality, are flexible, and perform well under pressure.
